This blackbird sings and chirps and chirps and sings. At least, I assume it’s always this one. Sometimes, it starts off with a chirp that sounds like one of Mr Perkins’ half-miaows: ‘Oww’.

Another bird swept past as I took this photo, but because I was so zoomed in and because I hadn’t quite found the right frame for the blackbird, the swooping bird isn’t in shot well. But it’s a more interesting shot than one of the lavender flowers that you were going to get, which brings me to my plant news.

The plants I planted and repotted yesterday are not yet dead.

However, I do have a question for people with green fingers: is it normal for seed leaves to go floppy and limp?
