Job done - front garden radically changed!

Monday - Weeds and shrubs removed, clay in skip, slate ordered.
Wednesday - skip picked up.
Thursday - Slate arrives, and weed suppression underlay bought.
Today - early start to cut and lay the 'underlay', then shovel two tons of plum slate chippings from the bulk bags and lay it out roughly level (on a slope!) to change the whole appearance of the front garden. Now we just need to get some small shrubs to go in pots on one side and it will be all sorted.

Conversion - of sorts - from one state to another, and just like many spiritual conversions it was a process, with some change being obvious quite quickly, and other taking a bit longer. In this case the longest bit was waiting for the skip to go and the new slate to arrive.

Just like spiritual conversion the job is not really complete either, ongoing change will occur until it looks how we want it to. And then there will be the odd weed or two (or more) that I'm sure will start to grow as seeds get dropped by birds or carried in on the wind. I'll have to keep my eyes open for them and pull them out as they sprout up.
