Music on the Prom

Local street band group Oi Musica will be performing at the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Pageant in London on 5 June along with Kinetika Bloco and Thames Festival Trust. This afternoon they got together for a bit of a live rehearsal and preview on the Prom. Lots of people gathered to watch them, with lots of cameras about, photographing and filming the event. Although I took lots of shots of the band - see extra - I really liked these two from Kinetika Bloco who generously posed for a picture at the end. Earlier we went up to our stomping grounds in Tollcross to meet P at the Black Bird aka The Auld Toll, which featured a lot in the early months when L and I first got together. It was the usual destination for drinks after Labour Party meetings, where we first met, and L lived in a flat a few doors along the street. It's completely different now and we met up with P in the excellent outdoor beer space for what was nominally a Soc Cafe meeting but turned out to just be the three of us chatting over food and drinks, In the early afternoon I was following the game at Elland Road - Leeds last home game of the season (captured by fellow blipper AMS1) against Brighton. Strangely exactly forty years ago I was there to see Leeds play the same opposition in similar circumstances. Penultimate game of the season, last home game of the season, Leeds in the bottom three, desperate for points. Back then Brighton scored in the 20th minute. Today they scored in the 21st minute! In 1982 Leeds scored two goals in a minute with ten minutes to go to win the game. Today they left it until injury time to grab an equaliser. Forty years ago the three points weren't enough and defeat in the final game sent Leeds down. This time will a single point be enough to see them safe?
