Acts of deliberate notice

Seashore

My husband and I rarely get days off together. Our evenings are frequently spent tired-ing at each other. So when I can finish work early it's lovely to be able to spend time going to interesting places in the vicinity.

On this Friday afternoon we went down to the sea. It was windy but the sun was bright and warming. We walked along the beach, threw stones in the sea, found a few hagstones and a shell that looked like a scotch pancake and watched the kite surfers zooming through the waves. We also treated ourselves to proper seaside chips, a rare luxury in a year of trying not to spend too much money.

The lesson I try to remember is that there will always be chores, but time spent with the one you love is precious and you should enjoy it to the fullest.
