An ordinary life....

Our first morning in Stornoway started off dull (weather wise) but improved to blue sky and sunshine.

We decided to stay local today and after lunch we headed to Lewa Castle.  It was closed last time we were here so was pleased that we finally got to visit.

Downstairs is open for visitors and we wandered around from room to room.  It's pretty empty (can be used as a wedding venue) but still impressive.

The Ballroom had a grand piano with a chair, and in the absence of any signs warning not to touch, David sat down and played.  It sounded lovely echoing around the empty ballroom.

When our tour ended we stopped at the shop and I purchased a couple of Christmas pressies (pays to be organised ;-)) then we had coffee in the cafe.

David popped off to Charley Barley's to buy some of his famous Stornoway black pudding for breakfast tomorrow and Ele, Kenny and I headed off on one of the many walks in the estate.  Wemset off long the wide path at the foot of the castle and David soon caught up with us. It was so lovely to be able to join in the walk and enjoy the sunshine.  We ambled for almost three miles.

Everyone is so friendly, saying hello as they pass.  At one point a couple passed us and said hello, and as I smiled at them I realised I recognised the woman.  It was our guide from the Harris Distillery tour yesterday!  What are the chances? :-) She had recognised us (motley crew that we are :-) and wondered if we recognise her.  So glad we did!

After sitting for a while enjoying the view back across to Stornoway harbour, we headed back, to get prepared for Eurovision!  G & T and fish suppers to hand and we were ready for the musical marathon!

I was so overcome with emotion, I nodded off before the UK entry came on. When it was time for Sam Ryder to perform Ele said to David "should we wake Diane" and he said just to let me sleep!  I woke up shortly after he'd performed and couldn't believe they hadn't woken me!  Honestly!  What was he thinking?!!!

Anyway, it was a great result :-)). Winners Ukraine, Second Place Uk :-)
