Falkirk Wheel

A bit on the damp side today; but it didn't diminish the sheer excitement of actually steering a canal-boat into the Falkirk Wheel, up onto and along a section of the Union Canal, then back down to the Forth and Clyde Canal :-)

Main photo shows 'Jaggy Thistle' as we sat in the 250,000 litre caisson (gondola) at the top of the wheel; 1st extra shows our entrance to the Roughcastle Tunnel as we went up to the Union Canal; 2nd extra shows our actual entry onto the Union Canal; 3rd extra our entry to the 630m-long Falkirk Tunnel; 4th extra showing us enjoying some respite in order to fill in course paperwork at the end of the day!

Been a totally fascinating (and thoroughly enjoyable) two-days ... and I'm now a qualified Helmsman ;-)
