Volcano on Fuerteventura

One of the excursions in the North of Fuerteventura is to visit Calderon Hondo, a volcano that erupted 50,000 years ago spreading volcanic rock all around.

We decided to climb it today and unfortunately took some wrong advice from a man where 2 paths diverged and we ended up going up a steep and dangerous path - I was less than popular but we made it and finally enjoyed the views from the top.

The crater itself is worth seeing and at the top we were met by chipmunks that obviously must be getting fed by walkers as the one in the extra even climbed onto my shoes ! I didn’t encourage it having encountered enough rodent teeth in my work !
If you look closely there is even one on the edge of the crater.
