Glenfinnan

A lovely sunny day! We had a great run up the side of Loch Lomond, stopped for a few Kodak moments then stopped at Tyndrum at the Green Welly for cheese scones. Off again, more Kodak moments in Glencoe and at Neptune's staircase - a set of locks that bring boats from the Caledonian Canal to the sea and have the glorious Ben Nevis as a back drop - before our next stop at Glenfinnan.

This is the view down Loch Shiel with the Glenfinnan monument of Bonnie Prince Charlie in the foreground. We took a walk up to a viewpoint to see both the monument and the viaduct, made famous by the Harry Potter movies, though the view we saw was a little disappointing, not having the benefit of the Hogwart Express steaming across, and not being able to get at the right angle for a good shot of the curve, as in the movie!!!

Got to Mallaig at 3, and a sit in the sun before our ferry to Inverie on Knoydart at 4pm. A lovely crossing, and a walk to the bunkhouse and by 5pm we were drinking tea and eating shortbread!

The girls have gone for a splash in the sea - in their wellies - John is having a snooze after the long drive and I am about to attempt to get this posted. No internet in the small self contained flat we are in, but hope to get some in the bunkhouse lounge.

There may be a lovely sunset tonight, but we may also be in the middle of dinner!!!

Comments may be a bit thin on the ground till I get home!
