Ephemeral beauty

This morning we attended uke class and then this afternoon I drove to my mother's. The traffic on M3 and  M25 was flowing smoothly and it was the best journey I have had for awhile. It was very warm, upto 26C. 
I photographed this Cistus flower about 4.30pm and by 5pm it had dropped all its petals. There will be another one along tomorrow, we hope. However, it is not a good plant to have if you go out to work between 8am and 5pm  as you rarely get to enjoy the flowers! 
The tortoise, having warmed up, was very lively, and was moving too quickly for me to snap!!
