After the storm

It has been hot and sultry here for many days now. The pressure has been building, and it finally came to a head.

Last night, I was woken in the night by a shuddering crack of thunder. For a short few minutes, the sky blazed and roared in angry storm. I lay on my bed, both curtains and windows opened, and gloried in the power of nature.

This morning there was a long-awaited freshness in the air, and the sort of tattered, calm clouds that only come in the aftermath of something more violent.
