Gannet

A hundred and more photos taken today so which to choose!!?!?
Celebrating my step mum and N’s myms respective recent birthdays and also F finishing Uni we surprised the three of them this morning with a Seabird Seafari from North Berwick on the three island tour.
Great hilarity as we jumped on the rib boat in our waterproof finery and scooted with screams to Lamb, circling to see the burrowing puffins, razorbills and kittiwakes. The latter named because their call is literally ‘kIT Ti Wake!’
Amazingly up close and the birds didn’t seem bothered at all. Over to Craigleith and saw a basking young seal… then the fragrant finale, the Bass Rock.
Phew it stinks but again. So close to the nesting gannets all 150,000 of them the largest colony of nesting pairs in the world. Prehistorically they circled above us like a horror movie but again, unbothered and didn’t seem to use us as dive bombing guano practice.Hoods up
We zipped across to my favourite Seacliff then along the coast under Tantallon castle.
Back to NB we were peckish so had a fun drive with the hoods down us in the mini, filming them in the Fiat 500. So silly ( and probably illegal)
Lunch at Tyninghame Smithy, ice creams at. Alandas and sat in the sun soaking up the rays.
Home to date and walnut cake in the garden.
Just a perfect day.
