Memorial

On the way back from Oban to Inverness, we stopped off for a snack lunch at the Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge. During the dark days of WW2 in 1940, an elite force of soldiers was established to raid deep into enemy territory and challenge their defences. They became known as Commandos, and they were trained in the hills around Spean Bridge and Ft William in the Highlands of Scotland. Even now their exploits are absorbing to read about.
