Stock Dove

Stock Dove
Having breakfast this morning and watching the birds feed in the front garden we noticed this bird. It had a green iridescent neck and I had not seen one like that before.

Quick search on the web and found it to be a 'Stock Dove'
Smaller than the similar-looking wood-pigeon and slimer than the feral pigeon.

Having a look in our pocket guide says it is quite common. Its numbers have been reduced by pesticides but is now increasing again.

You all probably know all this anyway but it was a nice learning experience to the day for me.
