Stuff and Nonsense

Swift #64

This morning we waited until the rain stopped and then took a short drive out to Hale for a walk. It's a 3-mile circular walk from the park, through the village, past the lighthouse along the river Mersey and back round through the lanes. The sun was shining and the air was full of skylarks and whitethroats singing.
There were a few swallows and swifts flitting around and since swifts only ever land to breed, I've never managed to get a shot of one before. They feed, eat, mate and sleep on the wing so a young swift will spend its first two or three years on the wing.  It was quite windy and the big lens is quite unwieldy for such fast birds, but I managed a few shots that were OK, before hubby got bored and moved on :)
