Should I Stay or Should I Go?

That was the question the nine blue tit chicks left in the nest box were asking themselves today.........and the answer was 'go', they all fledged this morning. The parents were calling for them from the trees nearby, a call that got a bit more strident as if the initial message was 'come on sweetheart, you can do it' and the final one was 'get a move on, we haven't got all day!' So now I have empty nest syndrome. If only Boris would ask himself that question and come to the same conclusion!

This afternoon G, H and I went to look round the gardens at Stody Lodge, a very nice afternoon it was too, but the gardens were definitely past their best.

Day 797 / Day 88 of no Legal Covid Requirements in England (for my record only)
The long awaited Sue Gray report into 'partygate' was published today. The inquiry concluded that many of the events 'should not have been allowed to happen', that behaviour 'fell well short' of 'the very highest standards', and that 'the senior leadership at the centre, both political and official must bear responsibility' for the culture at the heart of government. Details include wine spilled down walls, vomiting, and parties lasting until 4am, plus the regular 'wine-time Friday' gatherings. The PM's PPS said in a WhatsApp message that 'We seem to have got away with it' about a party, showing it was known that what was happening was wrong. Sue Gray said she'd been made aware of multiple examples of a lack of respect and poor treatment of security and cleaning staff. This follows the publication of a photo showing Boris at a party during lockdown toasting someone in a room full of people and booze on the table. A YouGov poll this afternoon showed 59% of the 2748 people surveyed thought the PM should resign and 74% thought he knowingly lied about breaking lockdown rules. Despite this, Boris is unbelievably refusing to resign. I independently reviewed the management of risk in Banks and I can assure you that a bad culture undermines any control that appears to be in place, and that bad culture originates from the very top, and cannot be effectively changed until those people at the very top are sacked or resign. Truly shocking.
