The Crouch river

What a wonderful day we had yesterday. The sun shone as we set out for the Essex coast and Wallasea Island an hour and a half from London. This area is as flat as a pancake with some beautiful salt marshes near the coast so we parked the car and went for a walk along the river bank before returning for a sandwich in a riverside cafe which looked out across the river to the small town of Burnham on Crouch. This is where l took the main photo. You can catch a ferry across to Burnham from here, there is a phone to ring which summons the boat on either side. We finished off the day with a fine meal at our local tratt.
