Hiatus

The Northlink Open golf competition in Stromness today. Here we are in the 18th tee where the course has a bit of a knotty problem. The golfers here are coming up the 17th, at right angles to the 18th so we need to hang on whilst they make progress. In the meantime, there are also golfers on the 15th also coming down and across the 18th fairway - and in our scenario, are completely oblivious to our right of way. Always a tangle here but today it was more knotty than usual!

And there's the Northlink ferryin the background, the Hamnavoe, speeding her way past and around the golf course heading for the mainland. She always goes out at a rate of knots (!) and heralds her departure with a good blast on her horn. By the time I'd teed off she was out of view and heading out of Hoy Sound.

I came 5th and won an umbrella with the Northlink logo emblazoned across. Given the dreich weather it felt very appropriate. Delighted to have played a halfway decent game when I was so down about it last night.
