Berry with thrift

A trip to the West with the lovely B. Here's Berry at the spectacular cliffs at Yesnaby  (heavily supervised and well away from the edge, I promise!). We hunted, and found, Primula Scotica , watched the waves pounding and enjoyed the wind.

Years ago, B brought her family up here for what went down as a classic holiday, never forgotten. I'm afraid it was memorable for the wrong reasons, but at least they had a laugh. We went past the hotel where they stayed, ate ice cream and then did more eating in Stromness on our way to the cliffs. I know B absolutely loves woodland so I took her to the well named Happy Valley with its winding walk along the burn and passing short eared owl - magical (but cold, just in case it all sounds too idyllic!).

Back home via a route I've never taken before - always good to find new sneaky ways. This one came with a tern colony and seals which we stopped and gazed at for ages with the bubbling sound of curlews as background. Nature is so bountiful up here.
