Onwards

And in this case, upwards, to the Caffe del Verone in the Museo degli Innocenti. Great views over Florence.

We had a perfectly smooth trip to Florence, taking advantage of the existence of a weekly direct flight on BA, which was generally very civilised. Edinburgh airport at 5am was utter chaos, but luckily I had bought fast track, so we got through reasonably quickly and I had plenty of time to stand in a queue for 20 minutes to buy some sub standard Pret coffee and some snacks to see us through. The flight was late leaving because the airport had not managed to get the luggage to the aircraft in time for the scheduled departure… Ditto Florence airport was very busy indeed, but as we were hand luggage only, we were through quite quickly and into a taxi.

After a rest, we went out for a wander and a coffee, and then later met JDz for an aperitivo (see blip) and later we went to Cafaggi for dinner. Back to the hotel and crashed after a pretty long day. This travelling business makes you weary. I am glad I have a day to get over the journey before the busy-ness of the week starts up.
