Sadness and happiness

We delivered our two daughters to the railway station in Larbert this morning and set off for Galloway, where we'll be staying for three nights in Gatehouse-of-Fleet.

We turned off the M74 at Lockerbie and called in to the local cemetery to see the Garden of Remembrance and memorial to those who died in the terrorist bombing of Flight 103 on 21st December 1988. All 243 passengers and 16 crew died when the bomb went off in the Jumbo jet over Lockerbie, and another 11 residents of the town also died when parts of the aircraft crashed into the streets below. A very sad part of British history.

Carrying on our way south-westwards we stopped for a picnic lunch beside Carlingwark Loch in Castle Douglas - see extra - and later called in to see a couple of Blipfriends and were treated to tea and cakes and a tour of the garden. Thanks very much Sheila and Will - we enjoyed our visit!

So now here we are in our little holiday home in Gatehouse - a short stay, but hopefully a relaxing one!
