King James I

A visit to the Maidstone Model Engineering Club in Mote Park provided plenty of opportunity for a blip. Some wonderful locomotives on display including this quite magnificent GWR King Class loco King James I cooling down in the yard. I’m always in awe of the skill and dedication of the engineers who built these magnificent engines.

The morning was spent pottering at an unhurried pace after Susan, Barbara and David went to see Doreen.

Barbara and David went again in the afternoon while we went walking in Mote Park, mainly to see these splendid engines.

A lovely evening fuelled by a moderate volume of alcohol and some good food.

Congratulations to Nottm Forest who secured promotion to the Premier League after an extended absence. Who remembers their dominance of English football in the late 1970s and early 1989s under the management of Brian Clough? Trevor Francis, the first £1 million transfer?

The former Mrs Tryfan is an avid fan and I recall the success of the team in those days. She’s over the moon today. Let’s hope they are able to flourish next season.
