Work for Peace

Memorial Day was called Decoration day originally and flowers were taken and put on graves of the fallen in wars and military service , but it was a day in our family we remembered all family departed members .  We took flowers out and titied up the graves and saw where many ancestors were buried.  My Dad fought in WWII but never much talked about that as is quite common with those who were lucky enought to return from battle. I feel the best way to honor those who gave their lives in war is to join in the work to bring about peace.  Not to glorify war or get natioalistic on this day, but to aknowledge that men and women have all too often been called to "serve" in wars for corporate greed and power brought on by the powers that be....not by average citizens who want to live in peace, There are times when armed struggles have been deemed necessary and the commoners are called on to serve...usually never the weatlhy who manage to call the shots but not do the actual shooting.  We need to do all we can to say no NO NO to these crazed wars...like in Ukraine by mad man Putin and lift up those who are seeking peaceful ways to solve conflicts.  More conflict resolution taught and learned by us all.  Gun controls now....and that means stop glorifying war and battles...it is NOT romantic or pretty .  Too much sanitized war games and violent gaming and tv going on that sends our children the wrong messages.  My own mom was very upset with my own protests against the Vietnam War.....she eventually  came to believe that that war was awful and became anti-war. A visit to Arlington National cemetary influemced these feelings
.  Stopping the aggressors is one step toward prevention .....all this macho war mongering talk from the last administration did nothing to calm the waters so to say.  Rant over....enough of this...Where have all the Flowers Gone
