The Chine

Today a friend took me to Shanklin Chine as she had a free visit. We usually go at the very end of the Season when it is floodlit. I have memories of using it as a short cut from the steam train to the beach back in the 1960’s when it was free. Fifty plus years on and it is £7 for an oap. It is quite attractive but not worth the money. Sadly people have thrown rubbish into the stream. There is a lovely pub at the bottom adjacent to the chine but that is better in the October evenings.
