Life through the lens...

Spot the ‘ deliberate ‘ mistake!

Passed this on our Pudsey Ramblers Jubilee Walk today.
Two things surprised us.
Firstly why it was called the Lancasterian School Room. Secondly 75 years?
Well the Lancasterian School Room was founded in 1813 on the principles laid down by educationalist Joseph Lancaster ( 1775 - 1837) funded by public subscription.
Not sure who made the mistake with the number however.

They didn’t make any mistakes at St James church in Tong village. ( see 1st extra) where we stopped for our lunch.
Beautifully decorated.
The present building replaced the medieval church in 1727.

17 of us really enjoyed the walk which actually started and finished in Pudsey.
Through the valley of Cockersdale, out to New Farnley, across the fields to Tong village and back along the beck to Pudsey.
Beautiful countryside all the way. Fields full of buttercups, and the cows which provided the milk for the Ice Cream Parlour in Tong village.
Great finish at Dot and Micks house for tea and cakes sat out in the garden.

So glad the weather has been good for the start of the Jubilee
