The Early Birds and Ratty

Out before dawn this morning to go up to one of my favourite spots on the moorland fringe. It was beautiful, if bitterly cold. Lots of lapwings and curlews, grouse and meadow pipits. Also saw skylarks and heard snipe drumming. As I returned, I also saw a couple of water voles. Couldn't make my mind up, so I went for a collage. full images on Flickr. Plenty going on in the garden for the last few nights: mouse, badger, foxes, and most unusually a hedgehog caught on the trailcam.
