Gaps and absences

The gap in the canopy represent another ash tree lost to dieback disease. Every succeeding spring more fail to come back into leaf and we wonder if any will remain once the disease has run its course.

In the extra the zero marks the absence of the limpet that etched its attachment to the spot. Each one returns to its base after nocturnal foraging. Who knows what became of it?


Wasn't it unfortunate that Prince Andrew's timely bout of Covid prevented him attending the Jubilations?
