King William's Bridge

Spent a lovely day catching up with my school friend at her coffee morning, then a carvery lunch.

This was followed by a long walk, in a country park that, when I lived in the area, was an open sewage farm. Apparently even after 40-odd years, there still remains a faint smell (we used to call it 'the flowers') but the grass and cow parsley are thriving on it. There was an archaeological dig in the upper area, called Castle Hill, that featured on a TV programme recently, unfortunately I missed it. There never was a castle but ditches,  earthworks and a mediaeval fish pond remain.

Our way back took us across this packhorse bridge which I have blipped before but this time I was up to my waist in cow parsley!
