Santa Rosa Creek, June 2022

At least there is still a little bit of running water....I took the pictures to each side of the bridge spanning the creek . The picture on the right shows the infamous log jam which is still there. Nobody seems to be willing to accept responsibility for clearing it although the massive pile clearly contains burned telephone poles and cut trees. Even from these pictures it is possible to surmise that the potential for other jams exists all along the path of the fire which burned down this way in 2019.

Dana and Jim came by for coffee this morning, bringing Blake with them. Other than being out of shape, he seems to be pretty well recovered from his near death experience. Despite a lot of tests and a hefty vet bill, the cause seems to be a mystery....It was certainly good to see him looking better than he has in several months.

John has lost communication with the app that reports on the activity of the solar storage battery. Jim pronounced the phone having normal function and thinks it must be the app that isn't working at the moment. It's always been a bit particular but there is no way to contact the company...even if we could remember what it's called. It will be a toss-up whether the company figures out the problem or John unearths the name of the company first....

John caught a ground squirrel in his trap and took it and let it go on the other side of the creek. I appears that she had babies as we've seen two very cute baby ground squirrels feasting on our lavatera. They seem to be managing on their own quite well but seeing them has made John reluctant to set the trap again. Instead he spent the day tracking down one of their extensive tunnels and attempting to plug it up. His comment was that even 'problem' rodents have cute babies....

I've spent the day working on finishing Dana's Christmas present, a knitted throw for her family room, catching up on some dog hair removal tasks and doing physical therapist prescribed exercises. I never know how it happens, but somehow I managed to throw my back out of alignment again. The P.T. put it right but it will take some effort to keep it right.

We're joining our neighbors for wine this evening. They've been in New York for almost a month trying to resolve their moving dilemma (he wants to move there, she doesn't). It will be good to see them and hear what, if anything, has been decided.
