And Now There Are Four!

Cormorant parents definitely share childcare. I watched one sit on the nest until the other came back. When it stood up to stretch, they contemplated their chicks together, then the newcomer sat down and the other one flew off. I can't tell the males from females. And I cannot believe that four squirmy hungry awkward little babies fit under one bird in that nest hanging over the ocean! The kids are busy stretching their bony little wings and waving their long necks for food. The Extra shows the feeding process--not for the faint of heart! The parent regurgitates food, but only if the baby's long beak is shoved down its throat to stimulate the reflex.
