a lifetime burning

Not swallowing, but carrying

We've had a very wildlife focused day today with a visit to 2 wildlife reserves.

We started this morning by visiting the Dyfi Osprey project and spent a fascinating few hours watching the Ospreys and their 3 chicks.  The Osprey's nest is under constant video surveillance with the feed streamed to the (relatively) nearby hide, so you are guaranteed a good view.

I've put up a shot of what you can see from the Osprey hide using a camera - in this case the shot is taken with an 800mm lens and a 1.4x teleconverter to give an effective focal length of 1120mm.  The atmospherics at that sort of distance make the photo barely useable, but its a good record of the day for me.

The swallow, on the other hand, was taken at a much closer distance this afternoon at RSPB Ynys-hir, as it came back to its nest to feed its brood.  Somehow I snapped a couple of shots that were actually in focus which I'm quite pleased with.

The first extra is yet another warbler, but this time it is a Willow Warbler.
