It had to be a puffin!

A wonderful day out on a boat.

First a visit to Staffa, and Fingal's cave.  After dipping in on the boat (with Mendelssohn's music blaring), they disembarked us, and we were able to walk back into it, which allowed more atmospheric photos (1st extra).

We lunched sitting on a rock beside the entrance.

Then back on the boat for the hop to Lunga, one of the Treshnish Isles, and a puffin Mecca.  Our boat crew warned us that we would be mesmerised by the puffins, and suggested that we walk along to see the other birds first.  I did walk along the path to see the guillemot colony, but W opted for a relaxing seat on the grass admiring puffins.  It was impossible to ignore them.  They are clearly quite accustomed to the hoards of visitors, and carried on with their lives just a few feet from us. I took a lot of photos of them.

I did take photos of other birds - see extras for razorbills, shags, and a hoard of guillemots.

We had two wonderful hours on Lunga being "puffinated".

Our return trip was capped by a white tailed eagle!  (Final extras).  Rather a distant view, but what a majestic bird.  With the added bonus of deer on the hillside behind.  Our thanks must go to our "eagle-eyed" boat crew, who spotted him and pointed him out to us - waking many of us from our exhausted slumbers!

A wonderful day, but our exertions of the last two days left me so tired last night I couldn't get up the energy to sort my way through my many photos in order to Blip.
