Tobermory

Photographed from across the bay at the lower Aros falls.

We had a slow start, but we needed to get in some supplies, so we decided to drive over to Tobermory.  As we were driving from Dervaig, we saw a sign for Loch Tor, and turned up the road.  There was a wildlife hide, so we parked and went in.  We were overlooking Loch Tor.  We didn't see anything very exciting - some highland cattle paddling in the far side of the loch and a willow warbler in a tree.  But there were some leaflets about forest walks in Mull, so we picked one up.

Perusal showed us a walk around Aros Park, past some waterfalls and around a little lochan.

So after a visit to the Co-op in Tobermory and lunch at The Glass Barn, we drove towards Fishnish.  We parked in the car park on the main road, and walked down rather a steep path beside Aros burn, admiring the upper falls and then the lower falls.  We emerged onto the bay opposite Tobermory, so we could admire the colourful houses.

We then walked round Lochan a' Ghurrabain, where we spotted a cormorant sitting on a branch.  He seemed to be struggling to swallow - maybe he'd just had an oversized fish.

I've put in extras of the falls and the cormorant.

Another lovely day with plenty of sunshine.  And another red sunset as I was blipping - dare we hope that means the rain forecast for tomorrow (and in fact the rest of the week) will hold off a little longer.

Thanks for all the stars and hearts on yesterday's puffin
