Life through the lens...

Waiting for lunch.

What a difference a day makes. Woke to sunshine. Yippee.
Much warmer too, and actually reached 20C.

We started today with a walk round Sheringham Park. Something we had planned to do on last Sunday.
The rhododendrons were mostly over, but there were several later varieties still flowering.
( see extra)
However the foxgloves were certainly looking beautiful, and the woods were full of them.(extra)

Then it was in to Mannington Hall. Unfortunately the gardens weren’t open, but we enjoyed a walk round the parkland, and over the boardwalk to the lake, and bird hide.
This is where I took the photo of the heron, who was catching frogs. Didn’t manage a photo of him in action.
Couldn’t believe the noise the edible frogs were making. Looking through the binoculars we could see them jumping amongst the pond weed at the far side of the lake.
There were also two young little greebs, moorhens, and a mallard, as well as dozens of dragonflies.

Then on to Aylsham where we enjoyed tea and cakes.
We finished the day with fish and chips at Eric’s in Holt, followed by a drive along the coast road, and a drive down to the shingle beach at Cley. Too early for a sunset.
On the way home a barn owl flew in front of the car. What a great end to a lovely day.
