BLIPPER

A day when the afternoon was warmer and sunnier than expected, and I had the pleasure of GailyWhaley's company for a wander around RSPB Saltholme. A few minutes after I took this we were joined in the hide by an RSPB volunteer who told us that his companion was a "Med Gull expert" who pointed out a Mediterranean Gull for us but told us it had its back to us and therefore its distinguishing features couldn't be seen, so it looked much like all the other gulls and terns we were looking at.

Outside the hide we'd just passed a lovely Reed Bunting with a beak full of juicy caterpillars (extra).

Thanks, Gail, it was a lovely afternoon of catching up though somehow we completely failed to have coffee and cake. Next time!
