Busy bees

Sandie our neighbour is the minder of the bees and the cocoons they're building. They have been away a couple of weeks selling their Suffolk home so she has missed the latest bee activity. They were all still sleepy and only just emerging from their own cocoons when she left. Now they are all out working hard collecting pollen and returning it to the chambers and then laying eggs in the pollen. Apparently they then seal it with mud. The egg then hatches, the larva eat the pollen pile and turns into a cocoon until next year and the cycle repeats! Extra photo is a viewing drawer to watch what is happening. I sent her some photos and a couple of videos of the activity today which she was really pleased to receive. Quite fascinating to watch, a bit of a time waster!
I had some strawberry plants arrive today which are now in pots hopefully providing strawberries at some point!
I did spend quite a lot of time just sitting resting the knee too.
