Wild Wednesday ...

... Red-bellied Woodpecker.

I know some of you might think that these birds should be called red-headed woodpeckers ... but that's an entirely different bird!  The red-bellied woodpecker gets it's name from the slight red tinge of it's belly ... which is very difficult to see here.  The woodpecker on the right looks to be a female and the one with his face towards us is a male.  And in all likelihood a breeding pair.  Although they would probably already have had their brood.

We spotted these beauties on our after dinner walk at Louise Moore County park.  Just like on Monday we packed up a supper picnic and ate at the park before going for our walk.  The weather was simply too nice to pass up the opportunity to be outside.

Happy Wild Wednesday ... even if it's already Saturday!
