Community Forum

We held a drop-in community forum event about the Town Hall project at Bellfield this afternoon. A number of the trustees were there, each looking after a different table concentrating on a particular aspect of the project. I was in charge of a 'possible year at the Town Hall', showing what the timetable of events might look like through the year in order to bring in enough money to keep the place going. It will be a balance between more expensive hires, such as weddings and major performances, and the cheaper, more community-based things. More weddings will bring in more money but will mean fewer Saturdays in the summer available for community activities. Which is not to say weddings aren't community events too, just not accessible if you are not on the guest list. There was a steady stream of people through the afternoon and plenty of interesting conversations about the way forward. Several people liked the idea of making the Town Hall into a Fringe venue for the whole of August.
