Washing line

When we bought our flat the solicitors gave us a large brown envelope. Inside the envelope were the details and documents of everyone who had ever owned it, including the group of men who bought the land for development in the 1890's. On the original documents it stated that the 'back green may be used for no other purpose except for the drying and bleaching of clothes.'

Today was perfect drying weather, armed with wet sheets we headed out to the line. The line snapped mid afternoon, dragging the sheets over the grass and enhancing the 'fresh' feel. The fabric softener people would pay good money to bottle that aroma.
