Lézarder au soleil

Backblip. Not a spectacular photo, but if you go large you can (hopefully) see amazing detail on this little lizard's skin. Also I didn't have to get off my sun lounger to take it.

It was a very hot day again. After we'd voted, S made lunch preparations and also spent an hour hacking at the garden, so lunch was a barbecue followed by lounging on the loungers in the shade of the bay tree. This tree was originally intended as one of those ball-shaped ornaments, but over the years has become a massive parasol that very effectively shades half the patio.

Happy to see our village has reverted to type after the unpleasantness of the presidential election. The united left candidate came first with over 50% of the vote, and the turnout was 60%, a good bit higher than the national average. The Rassemblement National candidate only got 20 votes this time. It's nice to have a credible candidate to positively vote for, as opposed to choosing the least worst!  And even better to see the left, formerly very much a boys' club in our département, put up young female candidates in all three constituencies. Two of them have a good chance of being elected, as the incumbent Macronist candidates have failed to make the second round next week.
