Puffins galore

Today we had booked a boat trip to Lunga and Staffa. Boarding the boat involved stepping across a small chasm which Ruadh was distinctly unimpressed with.
The visit to Lunga in the Tresinish Isles was however spectacular with puffins, razorbills and shags everywhere along with a supporting cast of guillemots and kittiwakes. The puffins were ridiculously tame and hundreds of photos were taken.
The Felting Queen had just asked me to ensure I had photos of puffin feet and this one was the next photo I took with a distnictly damaged right foot. It brought back memories of ringing puffins years ago and remembering just how sharp their claws were - forty years on I still bear a scar on one hand!
By the time we got to Staffa the sea conditions had worsened and so after seeing Fingal's Cave from the boat, we headed back to the pier at Kilchoan. The dog continued to be distincly unimpressed with the experience.
To end the day, a little luxury. We had booked into Mingarry Castle for the eight course taster menu and very good it was, although it made getting back into the tent seem unduly harsh.
