Mull

An early depart to catch the 8am boat across to Mull and breakfast with an old friend, DH. Her house was second house after leaving the ferry and an excellent Scottish breakfast was partaken off before going off on an explanatory tour of Mull.
The plan was to visit Iona but Calmac had different views and had cancelled the ferries for the day. We continued then on a full tour of the island and this was one of my favourite spots.
It is a broch - an  Iron Age tower with staircases built into the walls - near Burgh, a name that has interested me for a while. Not a single signpost was used in finding this site......
Set on a rocky knoll overlooking the entrance to one of the large sea-lochs, the walls were still 2m tall in places
In the evening, a pint in the Mishnish next door before an excellent fish meal at the fish restaurant opposite. What it is to be back in the fleshpots of a town.
