The Harris Hawk

A very busy day at the Mansionhouse with a steady stream of visitors, and many asking very interesting questions.

By the end of the visiting day, everyone was fairly tired. Part of this was that the house interiors were quite warm in order to lower humidity.

One very interesting couple are the subject of today’s photo. Both are volunteers. The Hawk’s roll is to catch and dispatch the more unwelcome animal visitors who roam the gardens. This is always done when there are no visitors.

Everybody is intrigued by this beautiful hawk, but the keeper keeps him firmly perched on his hand.

No flying for the Hawk today. Although you can see that some creature has caught their attention.
