Travelling

It's been a long day.

Yesterday Dartford tunnel was closed and Google maps led us a merry dance; it kept telling us that the route through the tunnel was the fastest route and also that it was closed. It then sent us down a motorway to a junction that didn't exist and then told us to turn back. Despite that we were in good time for the boat but with tempers rather frayed.

The boat was OK, although the en-suite was a bit smelly. The engines were quiet and it was a smooth crossing but I didn't sleep as deeply as at home.

We were woken at 5.30 and grudgingly allowed to take breakfast to our room.

Once off the boat we were on excellent Dutch roads. It was slow going because of the speed limits and a bit boring after a while. As soon as we got into Germany the roads were worse but faster..

We had lunch at a kind of garden centre but this is where all our covid caution falls down because we had to eat inside. That was true again tonight and will be tomorrow for breakfast. It's worrying.

We heard from my son that both he and the baby have bad colds and sore throats. He said they will wear masks. I'm not sure how that works with a baby.

I'm worn out and ready to sleep. Night all.
