Jaws

The Bragar whalebone arch was formed from the lower jawbone of a blue whale which beached on the shore of Geodha Nam Muc in 1920. It was dragged to Bragar Bay where the rotting beast was found to have a large harpoon embedded in the skull. Eventually it was stripped of blubber by the villagers of Bragar and the village postmaster had the jawbones and harpoon mounted as an archway at the entrance to his house, Lakefield.

The bones are now coated in fibreglass to preserve them.
