The Feast of Sant’Antonio of Padua...

...who died on this date in 1321 is a rather grand, but not lavish affair. The people of Ceglie Messapica ensure that the Saint is seen by all as the procession takes a few different routes through the town - see a couple of extras. 

I’m pleased to report that our favourite bar/café in the square has not totally changed after all! We found out this evening that the owner had retired and the business carries on with the owner’s nephew in charge. We met him the last time we were in Puglia, three years ago, and he remembered us! We had a very pleasant conversation and were mightily relieved that the spirit of the place hasn’t changed.
