The London Marathon

Chris ran his fourth London Marathon today.

He left the house at about 7am to head to the blue start at Blackheath. Al was staying with my brother, so Betsy and I met him and his uncles at Earls Court and we headed for Narrow Street. The crowds were even thicker than usual, it was a great atmosphere.

We saw Chris, he flew by, it's always so great to see him. Narrow Street has such a great atmosphere that every one cheers when they see a runner knows someone in the crowd. He had a lot of support along the way, four groups at six places along the course.

We had lunch in the park, then went to Commercial Road and saw him again. The runners look very tired by this time, and the atmosphere is more kind of determined, but he still looked ok.

We met him after the finish at Horseguards Parade, also his two sisters, two nieces our nephew and his girlfriend. He'd done it in 4 hours and 6 seconds - he was pleased, his time last year was 4 hours 12 minutes. We came home on the train and he had a long soak and a huge curry, and then started talking about doing it again next year.....
