Diary Blip (Thursday 16th June 2022)

I recently ordered some Red Hot Poker Primulas as I'd seen some at C's and they have arrived from Victoriana Nursery Gardens. I didn't have a blip for the day but remembered that when they arrived I had sent pictures of them from my iPad to Refna, who kindly sent back instructions for me to prepare them ready for potting up. These included first soaking them for an hour in a bowl of water, as seen, before being put into individual pots. They came wrapped in damp copies of the Daily Telegraph (unfortunately!). C's looked like this, though mine might not flower until next year, if I manage to keep them alive...

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Billy Riley and the Little Green Men - Red Hot (recorded 30 January 1957, Sun Studios, Memphis TN)
Written and first recorded by Billy "The Kid" Emerson in 1955 and since recorded by the likes of Bob Luman, Ronnie Hawkins and the Hawks and in the seventies by Robert Gordon and Link Wray, but perhaps the best known version is this one by Billy Lee Riley, with Jerry Lee Lewis on piano as a member of the Little Green Men, so called because Billy Lee Riley had recently had a hit with Flying Saucers Rock And Roll.
