Harlow Carr

We had a smashing meet up with my old schoolfriend Helen and husband Tim at Harlow Carr today in the glorious sunshine.  Helen reminded me that it was March 2020 when we had planned a joint birthday visit to their house for lunch, and then of course Covid put a stop to that, so this get together, like many others, has been a while in the doing.

We had an early cuppa and then strolled up the stream enjoying the primulas in particular.  It is a real feature of the RHS garden.  There was much catching up before it was suddenly after midday and we paused again for sandwiches at the outdoor cafe.  A tour of the alpine house and the garden shop followed and we found the alpines we were looking for to fill a gap at the top of the rockery.  It was then time to say farewell till next time.

Once the heat went down somewhat I mowed the strip of grass at the back of the terrace in preparation for our street get together on Sunday.

Yesterday's purple wild flower was identified by ValC as purple toadflax, thank you Val!
