Huntingdon

The Huntingdon ’village’ sign has Oliver Cromwell on it (see extra): he was born in Huntingdon, according to a plaque on the wall of a house. Much to my amusement, a huge crown marking Queenie’s platinum jubilee was in the next flower bed along from the Cromwell sign.

We’re staying in Huntingdon for Mr Pandammonium’s mega walk. Registration starts tomorrow at three o’clock in the morning.

Alas, there are not one, but two weddings at our quaint hotel that doesn’t have double glazing. I can hear the wedding disco music as loud as if I had it on in the room.

So far, we’ve been treated to such wedding disco classics as:
• ‘Believe’ by Cher
• ‘Macarena’ by Los del Rio
• ‘Come on Eileen’ by Dexy’s Midnight Runners
• ‘Saturday Night’ by Whigfield
• ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ by Bon Jovi – the DJ kept turning it down for the ‘woah-oh’s
• ‘Rockin’ all over the World’ by Status Quo
• ‘Summer of ‘69’ by Brian Adams
• the hokey cokey
• the conga
All we need now is ‘Agadoo’ by Black Lace and ‘The Birdie Song’.

As if a wedding disco wasn’t enough, the quaint hotel is without air conditioning. This wouldn’t necessarily be a problem if it hadn’t been 32°C today. It’s boiling.

Oh, there’s ‘Agadoo’ now! Closely followed by ‘The Twist’.

Update: how could I forget ‘YMCA’ by the Village People?!
