Pearly

As far as I can make out this is a small pearl bordered fritillary on a northern marsh orchid. It allowed me to get quiet close.

Late morning we took ourselves to nearby Gait Barrows. It’s always good, and fascinating to see how the flora changes through the year. The plant stand out today was the biting stonecrop, bright splashes of yellow succulents on the limestone “floor” (extra).
